Tuesdays

Monday is the first day of the work week, nobody likes Monday. "Somebody's got a case of the Mondays." Wednesday is hump day, you're half way there. Thursday means that its almost Friday and thus almost the end of the week. Friday means that, for most people, by 5 the weekend is getting started. Saturday IS the weekend, you can sleep in and you still have Sunday. Sunday is such a relaxing day.

But Tuesday, what does Tuesday have?

Blue velvet couch

The library on campus has blue velvet and dark, multicolored, flower print couches and chairs scattered throughout the building. But off of the coffee shop there is a cozy little room with two blue velvet couches and three matching chairs. We appropriately call it "the blue couch room." There's a window that goes all the way to the ceiling, and a window sill large enough to sit on. the lights are dimmable Its my favorite place to do homework.

Monday I did what I had intended to do Sunday. I camped out in the library and worked all day. I only have one class on Mondays and I got an e-mail telling me it was canceled, So I spent a cold, cloudy, Monday sitting on a blue velvet couch in a room all to myself drinking ginger peach tea, and reading.

Fabulous!

This morning started out great. Jess and I went to IHOP for brunch, and it was so nice to start a cold rainy day with hot tea, eggs, toast, hashbrowns, and sausage. (And Boyfriend!!! who had been on a business trip since Wednesday). After brunch I went home to change into comfy clothes and go to the library. But once I had put on my comfy clothes I couldn't find comfy shoes that I wanted to wear. So, what did I do? I went to Target to buy FUGGS.

I think i have a shoe problem..........

They ended up not having any in a size that would fit (no half sizes and i wear a 9 1/2), so I got no boots. Instead, I bought a wallet, some Star Wars books to mail to John ( the 7 year old I nanny for during the summer), spent about 20 minutes perusing the greeting cards, and then walked around the toy department while making a christmas wish list of games and christmas movies. How did I get so off track? I went from Library to Christmas wish list at Target.....

After Target I drove to the library, but before going inside made a few phone calls. One of those phone calls required me to go run an errand, while running this errand the gas light on my car turned on so I had to get gas too. The credit card machine wasn't working at the first gas station I went to, so I had to go to another one (where thankfully the credit card machine did work).

I intended for today to be really productive, to get a lot of e-mailing and reading and writing journal entries for my acting class done, but I am just now starting on homework.

But in spite of my day not going according to plan, I've had a good day.

And now, ten hours later than I planned, I'm off to start working.

Hope you had a great day too. Did you do anything exciting?

PROM!

Last weekend Sammi was back in Newport News for an admitted freshman event, but her senior prom was last Saturday night, so she went to the event on campus on Friday, and on Saturday she came to my apt to get her hair done, and then she went home. Her hair looked quite nice if I do say so myself. Here are a few of the pictures she sent me.

All of these pictures are from their family's farm. I love it there, it is beautiful.

Belated Easter weekend post

For Easter weekend, Jessby's little sister came and stayed the weekend with us. (Jessby and Sammi both stayed at my apt) We had a fabulous time. She got here on Thursday and stayed until Sunday. On Friday she went to class with us and then I took her to the mall to go prom dress shopping. She technically already had a dress but she was making sure that it was the best dress out there (it definatly was, everything at the mall here was crap). Instead of getting a dress we bought underwear (they were 7 for $25, how could we not buy them). Saturday we drove down to Kitty Hawk NC to visit their grandma (Meemaw), great aunt (Emily), aunt (Carlo), and uncle (Warren). They were all really nice, they took us out for a big breakfast, then we hung out at the dunes and on the beach all afternoon and they took us out for an early dinner before we drove back up to Newport News. Sunday Jessby had to work so Sammi and I hung out, lounged around in our pj's and had girl talk time.

Left to right Sammi, Jessby, Me, Carlo with her husband Warren behind her, Meemaw, Emily,

Sammi and I were cold so we decided to use Jess to protect ourselves from the wind.

Proof that sometimes, I can take pretty pictures.

So back in August i started collecting blue and white wear. I think that it is absolutely beautiful, and have wanted to collect it for years. Yesterday I decided to photograph my collection that i have accumulated thus far. Enjoy.

I had a Martha moment......

More like a Martha week. I have been cooking, cleaning, baking, grocery shopping, doing laundry, decorating, and crafting all week. My roomie has been having a rough time so to love on her a little I surprised her by cleaning her entire room and doing all of her laundry.

I had a crafty moment when I left her a note.
The design on the envelope is inspired by a cover that we have on our love seat in the living room. After I decorated the envelope I was inspired to whip out my paint pen and add a little pazazz to a mirror that i bought back in January.

Just in case you didn't know, its really hard to photograph a mirror.

I spent the rest of my weekend cooking and baking. My pictures leave much to be desired but I'm working on it.

I made delicious corn salad, tomato, mozzarella, slices with basil red onion and home made balsamic vinaigrette, and grilled chicken, with fresh strawberries for desert ( i forgot to photograph the chicken)

On Sunday I made butter recipe cupcakes with rainbow chip icing, and last night I made London broil, fresh steamed green beans, and biscuits. It was delicious.

I cant believe that I only have three semesters left until I graduate! Scary to think that i'll be graduating a semester late and it still feels like it's snuck up on me. I've certainly come a long way since freshman year. I've finally got course registration down pat. (it only took me 5 semesters) i had a super organized spread sheet with all of the classes that i need to graduate, printed it out and highlighted the classes that i still need to take. had a great meeting with my advisor and should be all set to graduate December of 2010.

Only three semesters left!!!!

I cant believe that I only have three semesters left until I graduate! Scary to think that i'll be graduating a semester late and it still feels like it's snuck up on me. I've certainly come a long way since freshman year. I've finally got course registration down pat. I've got all my classes scheduled and they are only offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays , so i'll be nannying on Mondays and Wednesdays for a professor of mine who is currently pregnent due July 4th.

Fun, Laughs, Good Times.....

So, I intended to post the Sweet Charity pictures one ever few days. Although i've been been doing better about updating than i used to, i'm not doing as well as I would like. This is a bit of a cop out, but i'm going to post the rest of my sweet charity stuff all at once.

This last one is my baby. I made this dress from start to finish. Picked out the pattern, cut everything out, and i even altered it from the original pattern to make it suit the show.

(insert witty title here)

After having spent almost 5 days out of town for a conference i feel like i should blog about it, but i don't really feel like it, so i'm not going to. The only part about the conference that I will include is that jessby is fabulous, and i love my parents. The three of them added a little bit of something special to my 21st birthday (which occured while at said conference). My parents called me early in the morning to sing happy birthday to me together on speakerphone. I love that they do that for my birthday every year. Then when I got out of the shower Jessby had placed a card under my pillow on the bed for me to find. It was really cute, and even cuter than the card itself was the fact that he bought the card back around new year's and has been waiting months to give it to me. I had a delicious bagel sandwhich for breakfast and upon returning to the hotel after bagels, I recieved a birthday balloon, a big red velvet heart shaped box full of chocolates, and a ceramic (rubberduckie look alike) flowerpot full of daffodil bulbs. Jessby had them sent to me at the hotel. It made my day. I LOVE daffodils. So that is the run down on my 21st. (the highlights of it atleast) and now i'm looking forward to belated birthday dinner with (some) of my nearest and dearest this weekend. I wish all of my sisters could be there too, but its just not possible.

And then......

I made this!!!
This shirt was a pain to make. I had to use RIT dye and could only make a few colors at a time and was having trouble with the dye seperating out before i had a chance to use it.... But i'm pleased with the end result.

SNOW DAY!

Ok so this snow day actually happened a few weeks ago, but I still think its pretty exciting news. I got a text alert from CNU letting me know that classes were cancelled around 3 am. Of course I had to jump out of bed to go see the snow. Snow doesnt last more than a few hours in Newport News so I had to see it before it all melted. I went back to bed and slept in untill 11 it was fabulous. And i spent the rest of my day reading in bed with jessby and cooking delicious things.

Jessby made pancakes.

And i made Blueberry muffins and delicious noodle casserole

It was a fabulous day. This post is way after the fact... but i've been meaning to post about it forever....

Sweet Charty

Between Christmas break and spring break I put in over 56 hours in the costume shop, working on Sweet Charity. Over the next week I'm going to post pictures of what I worked on. With out further adu, here is the first piece I made.

Its not the most impressive thing, but I'm posting these in the order that I made them.

Spring semester is always crazy. Fall semester has a few long weekends that break the semester up a little, but the spring semester seems to drag on forever. Its not even mid-term yet and things are already nuts. I've been working in the costume shop 8-10 hours a week on top of my other classes. I'm excited to build up my portfolio though. in the past week I've been doing alot of tie dye and today I started a dress, that has to be finished by tomorrow because the actress is coming in for a fitting at 2. aaah!!!!

I'm also looking for a summer job or internship and the application deadlines for some of them are VERY fast approaching. wish me luck.

I have been having the most vivid nightmares lately. Its pretty awful. In last night's i was kidnapped and held hostage for a very very long time. along with a bunch of other people. We were held hostage for so long that our families thought we were dead. eventually we were rescued. but it was really hard to get back to our old lives. i had a particularly hard time with it all. and spent alot of time just crying because things were too much to handle. it was such a realistic nightmare. and even though i woke up from it several times as soon as i would fall back asleep it would pick right up where it left off.

I wonder if there's anything you can do to make nightmares less likely......

on a happier note... i have a batch of brownies in the oven

Blogger Fail

I am awful at updating.....

With that said, my first week of classes is going quite well. I am taking scene design, which i'm super excited about. It was a great excuse to buy more art supplies. My boyfriend, we'll call him Jessby, and I drove 45 minutes to get to the art supply store ( had to go to VA beach b/c there is a serious lack of art stores in Newport News) and then I proceeded to spend over $100. I'm taking "Classical dramitic impulse" in which we will read and discuss;

1. The Theatre: A concise History
2. Oedipus the King
3. Everyman and other Miracle, Morality plays
4. Richard III
5. The Love of Three Oranges
6. The Rover or the Brandished Caviliers
7. The Cid, Cinna, The Theatrical Illusion

I have BIO lecture Monday, Wednesday, Friday. I am so proud of myself, not only have I kept up with the reading, but I am a few sections ahead, and i'm taking excellent notes. I'm in BIO lab once a week, which isn't too bad, but its an 8 am. YUCK! And the other three credits that round me out to 13 credits for the semester, are an independent study in the costume shop. I'm going to get a few costumes that are mine to build from start to finish and i'm going to be the professor's design assistant!!!! I'm so excited! I think this is going to be a lovely semester.

On a non class related note; Jessby has no on campus meal plan this semester and he only "cooks" prepackaged foods for himself and almost NEVER eats vegetables. So I decided to do something about it, he's helping pay for groceries and I'm making us dinner ATLEAST two nights a week. So far its going well, and I think that I will eat better as a result of the this arrangement. I make more exciting foods (and more balanced meals) when I'm not just cooking for myself.
